Dear Mavis,

Your letter came OK. The preacher was here Sunday afternoon and Popa gave him your check. He certainly was glad to get it, said that was all he would get for himself, for they were using the money at Rock Ridge for some other purpose this week. We had a two day rain last week. I attended a cooking school the two days it rained, just in the afternoon.

Ruth and Howard, Popa, Dulcie and I went over to Aunt Annie Sapp's last Wednesday night. We had a pleasant evening. Ruth enjoyed it so much. We popped corn, ate peanuts and ate ice cream and cake. Aunt Annie and Mildred were alone.

We heard the sermon at Winecoff by Dr. Crossly Morgan Sunday evening. It was a wonderful discourse taking his text from the story of the rich young ruler.

We went Monday evening and night. Annie Shinn went with us. The class exercise showing the growth of our nation was very good, then a fine talk by President of Queens College at night was grand. Dulcie got through with her part alright. They didn't get to wear their evening dresses, which was such a disappointment to Dulcie. She is staying with Jerry this week. They couldn't get anyone else. I miss her. It is too lonesome at night. Howard and Ruth are coming tonight.

Popa is getting his cotton ground ready. It has been so cold nothing is coming up. Has Mr. Turner planted his crop yet? I imagine he rushes until he gets planting done. He must have wonderful vitality to keep going as he does. I suppose he is like Aunt Annie Sapp. You know she never gets tired.

Lovingly,

Mother
