Dear Mavis,
We were thrilled and excited to hear of the arrival of twins. We were hoping you would have a girl, but were not expecting a boy and a girl. Muriel was not working at the store when the wire came so they took it to her. She sent Doug with it to the Creamery. Papa called up Buren and they came over and told me about seven PM. Jerry came in and says "Have you heard the news?".I said "No, what is it?". Victoria said "Mavis has twins, a boy and girl". I went with them to tell Dulcie. She was more excited than I. Papa called Aunt Missouri, Aunt Cora, Aunt Annie Sapp, Howard and Ruth that night. I wrote Elwyn and Aunt Lole that night. So just about everyone knows it.
Late this afternoon Aunt Missouri, Velma and Jean, Lottie, Edna, Lee, Lottie, Virginia and her little boy came to find out how you were getting along. I told them I hadn't heard since the first news. I hope the babies are OK and that you are getting along alright. I had thought I would go to see you and be there to stay with the children when you went to the hospital. I had a cold last week and am not over it yet so I thought it best to wait until I feel better. If you think I can help you any I could go and stay several weeks.
Harding came home this afternoon to register. He went back early Saturday morning. He is working in a Ladies Store selling shoes on Saturday. He said he would probably not come home any more until Thanksgiving. Let us know what you need in the way of clothes for the babies. Best of luck with them and yourself.
Love to all,
Mother
