ASSIGNMENT ONE:
Find some sites, good or bad and analyse their use of
design fundamentals.
SITE 1
SITE 2
SITE 3
SITE 4
All the above sites exhibit quite good examples of
Design Fundamentals with
good use of color, white space, great navigation and
accents where needed to
draw attention to the subject matter as well as use of
double spacing to define.
The loading time on site four is much too slow due to
the heavy use of graphics.
I would suggest either getting rid of unecessary
graphics and/or trying to further
compress/resize this page and it's graphics to achieve
a faster loading time.
ASSIGNMENT TWO:
Create a simple page using the (Lorem Ipsum) text.
Do anything you like.
Post why you made the design choices you did!
A PURELY FICTITIOUS SITE:
I chose a warm muted newspaper/book print background to tie in with the fact that this is an *Authors* site where they can come for resources, research and exchanging of ideas. I chose a strong vertical menu for left-page navigation and will also add text navigational links at the page bottom later in our lessons. I thought the grey and brown colors I chose give an overall impression of stability, maturity, reliability and warmth as well. I used bold text for the sub-headings and double line spacing to define the paragraphs and subject matter. In this case (dummy) text as you can see.
