Dear Mavis,

Your card received. Harding says to tell you he can get his vacation any week in August if he lets them know in time, so you let him know the time it suits you best.

We went on a picnic to Cress's Lake last Tuesday evening. We had ten pounds of hot dogs, coconut cake and custards, pickles, slaw and onions and lemonade. Mrs Harkey came with Muriel and Mac and all our family except you were there. Had a lot of hot dogs left. Muriel, Elwyn, Victoria and I didn't go swimming. Everyone enjoyed it. Wednesday evening Elwyn and family took dinner at Aunt Missouri's and I washed. Ruby and Aunt Annie came over in the afternoon, but they left before Elwyn came back. Annie invited us over for dinner Thursday and of course we went and as usual she had the best dinner. Then after dinner she served peach ice cream. Wednesday night I made ice cream in the freezer. Howard and Ruth, Muriel and Mac, Buren and family were here. Howard said it was the best ice cream he had ever eaten. He said if one had been eating ice cream a hundred years and could eat for another hundred they would never taste any better. A big complement I think. We had cream Thursday night but it wasn't quite so rich though very good.

Howard brought two large watermelons Thursday night and they were all here again except for Mac and Muriel. Elwyn left Friday about 9:30AM. Glady's baby sister, 11 years old, went back with her. Dulcie wanted to go back with them but I persuaded her to wait and go with you in August.

Delores was feeling better when they started back. She said she wasn't going back but when they got ready she was the first one in the car. She liked Jo and never tired of playing with her. She and Jerry couldn't get along at all. She treated him as a baby and he resented it. They would fight over the little chair. Jerry would take both balls and wouldn't give her one. We tried to make their visit enjoyable. All of us had a happy time together.

Muriel has her vacation the next two weeks. The kids went back with her tonight. They are all coming back Tuesday. She is going to have Jo's tonsils removed next week. Buren and Victoria came by for Dulcie. Jerry wanted ice cream. I had some and he ate it by himself.

Lots of love,

Mother
