Thursday morning

Dear Ruel,

I don't know why it takes letters so long to come from Mississippi.  I didn't get your letter mailed Monday until this morning.  I was beginning to get quite anxious to hear from you.  About half the time I'm saying to myself "Young lady, if you miss him so much why did you let him go back to Mississippi without you?"  It is terrible, but I guess I can live through it.

I suppose you and Ray will be getting all dressed up this afternoon.  How I wish I was there to go to Vicksburg with you!  I hope you got my letter in time to discuss it with Ray.  If you could start on Thursday as well as Saturday I think Saturday the 27th would be much the better date; however I want it to suit you as well as myself and the people here.

Do you think we will need a living room larger than 20x14?  I've already been wondering how we were going to get furniture to fill that large space.  I thought the plans I sent had ample closet space.  The only change I might suggest would be to make the kitchen a little wider and the dining room less wide.  I'll wait and see his drawings though and then pass on my opinion.

I have to iron today.  Everybody has gone to town today except Jo and I.  We spent yesterday in the city and I surely did not care to go back today.  There was a cooking school put on by the local gas company in session and I attended. I learned several things that I did not know, but I believe it takes actual practice to learn the art.

So Carrie and Bro. Guinn have at last met!  I can imagine there was a little blushing when the introduction took place.  I hope Mrs Dorroh's little plan works, but I have my doubts.

Please take time to eat dinner even though you have to leave off writing me.  Your health is important you know.

Love,

Mavis
