Monday noon
Dear Mavis,
I also received two letters this morning. Looked for one Saturday but was disappointed. I have so much work to do, I do not have time to eat dinner. Still cutting and baleing hay, picking cotton. Ginned 13 bales Saturday. Just picked 2 days last week.
Went to church yesterday. They had two preachers, Bro Guinn and Bro Jones. When Mrs Dorroh introduced Bro Guinn and Miss Brown I could not help but punch Ruthel. Remember what Mrs Dorroh said?
When I came out of church Ray was waiting for me. We went to Pace and spent the afternoon. We had plenty to talk about. We are going to Vicksburg Thursday afternoon. Louis is going to meet us there. We both need Fall suits so we will go on and buy them. Will get blue. I sure wish you were back in Mississippi to go with us. When we come up there we plan to leave Arcola on Saturday afternoon and drive to Anniston, Alabama that night. Ray's brother and father work there - then drive on the next day. Anniston is about half way.
Freeman is still working on the house plan. He has the front drawn. It is beautiful. He is going to enlarge the living room, kitchen and bedrooms to get more closet space. I think you will like the changes he is going to make. I sure wish you were here to help him. It is out of my line of work. We are having the front porch of this house we live in screened. I think they are going to paint it also. Time to start going again, so must close.
Love,
Ruel
