Wednesday noon
Dear Mavis
One month from now and it will all be over - the wedding. I will be glad when I can see you again. I wish you were around close now. Zora is at home for a few days and I am catching plenty - she and Mama are bucking against me. All I can say is that they are selfish and they are hurting me more than they will ever know. I can forgive but never forget. I think you understand the condition here.
Ruthel is leaving Friday for Olive Branch. School starts there Monday. The schools start at Rosedale the 8th. Sometimes I wish I were just a schoolboy starting to school with no worries or troubles.
It looks like it may rain here most any minute. I have a lot of hay on the ground. I have not checked but I must have between 25 and 30 bales of cotton out. It is just now opening enough to pick good.
Just as soon as I have time I am going by Dr. Patterson's and be examined. Can we get the license the same tay or time we apply for them? Some states you must file several days before.
If I was only in North Carolina I could introduce Sister Shinn to your family. I think you do extra good before an audience. I often wonder if I am going to be able to repeat after the preacher. I am going to be excited and nervous. Maybe if Ray is standing close by it will help a little.
Miss Brown is using your old car now. Every time I see it, you know what I think about. I think Miss Brown is going to find it difficult to take your place. The crowd was small at church Sunday. The singing was not good. Miss Brown cannot sing or she didn't try Sunday.
I still intend to go to Vicksburg tomorrow if possible.
I let Mary Emma and Zora have my truck to go to Clarksdale this morning. They should be back anytime now and I will mail this this afternoon.
Lots of love,
Ruel
