Goto Sep 6, 1941 letter

[September 3, 1941]

Dear Mavis

Let the nice letters come on. I think I can stand one a day. It must take 2 or 3 days for a letter to come from N.C.

I made my report to Mrs. Dorroh Sunday morning. She asked plenty questions. I could not say enough nice things about your family and friends. Every one wants to know how I made it with your family. From your letters I guess everything must be OK.

The crowd at church Sunday was small. Bro. Beasley from Lynn was the preacher. The building looks good They have the room completed, the building painted.

I did not go to see Ray Sunday. Talked to him yesterday. Am going to Arcola Thursday afternoon. Wish you were here to go with me.

Yes the 23rd is alright. I understand. I wish we could have the wedding the 1st of Sept but I have so much work to get started before I leave to come back up there. I will start picking cotton next week. Have about 100 acres of hay to cut and bale next week.

I am getting plenty of sleep now. Ruthel and I went to the show Sunday night. Saw "Lady Eve". Mary E. was sick. Zora has been in the Methodist Hospital in Memphis.

Have the house plans. Am sending for your approval. Some of the rooms are larger. The estimated cost is also shown. I think it is reasonable enough. There may be some changes you want made.

It is so hot I can hardly write this letter. It must be at least 100 degrees. Am wet with sweat.

I am going to carry Ruthel over to Duncan this afternoon to interview the Supt. of the school.

Love,

Ruel
