Dear Mavis
Was very blue today until I got your letter. Wonder why? Would have been very disappointed if I had not gotten it. It is a beautiful day here in Mississippi. Have started back to picking cotton.
I went to Arcola yesterday afternoon. Ray had a call in trying to get me at Rosedale had been trying all the afternoon and while I was in the store the operator call back and told him they had me on the phone I was in the store talking to him then. He ask them to cancel the call.
Mrs. Thomas, the woman Ray works for, said he was the most excited person she ever saw about a wedding. He had already got a bus schedule from Charlotte back to Arcola. He will leave at 12 that night and get to Arcola at 6AM on Wednesday morning if we have the wedding on Monday the 22nd. He said either date would be alright, but I could tell from the way the talked he would like to get back to work just as soon as possible. Mrs. Thomas said we should by all means wear Fall suits. Having just gotten married she was trying to give us some advise. We are going to Vicksburg Sunday afternoon or next Thursday to buy some clothes. If your brothers already have tan suits should we have tan? I will have to find out.
About the new automobiles. Your people are right about several things being not as good as the 41 models. The new ones will be out around the 1st of September but I doubt if you can get them by that time. Am going to try. If I can't I am going to try and get a new 41 somewhere. I prefer a Ford if it is possible to get one. Bob Wilson has a new Plymouth but I do not like a Plymouth. Have got to do something very soon, haven't I?
Ruthel has a job teaching Commercial work at Olive Branch. It is 19 miles south of Memphis. She seems to be very proud of the place. It is much better than Black Hawk in every respect.
Let's forget about the 1st house plan for a while anyway. I think we both will like this one they are working on now. Will send it to you when they get it completed and see if you want any changes made.
Love,
Ruel
