Dear Ruel,
Maybe we are developing a little patience if nothing else. Air mail letters don't seem to travel any faster than the other kind for the two letters you mailed Sunday came at the same time. Muriel sent her airmail letter Thursday, but it didn't get there in time to ease your worries Saturday.
I'm right proud of your typed letter. I believe my husband does know how to do something besides farm. Maybe you should not have let me know that. I might get dissatisfied with farm life, especially if I'm going to have to milk the cow. Probably I'll have an excuse - you see she just had an operation. I'm not a bit lazy am I?
I'm in the room with Dulcie now. She is still very sick but the doctor says she is doing all right. When she can keep something on her stomach she will feel better. Three days without eating makes one pretty weak. Muriel is off on Wednesday afternoons and she is up here with us this afternoon. Aunt Annie Sapp and Martha were here a while this afternoon, too.
This letter is a bit on the slanting side I believe. I am not propped up so high - its a little dark in the room for Dulcie's sake as I thought I wouldn't write much.
Did you see a good show Sunday night? Don't believe I told you I went to see "Random Harvest" the afternoon after I went to the doctor. It was very good but not as good as "Mrs. Minerva"
Johnnie is doing fine they keep telling me. He stays at Muriel's at night when Mama comes up here and he and Jo have a time. I can't wait until I can see him. I don't know when I'll go home, perhaps Saturday or Sunday.
Love, Mavis
